Day 1 – Islamabad

- Upon arrival into Islamabad, our local guide, Beyond the Borders tour leader and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
- Settle in after your journey and enjoy some time to relax before beginning your introduction to Pakistan.
- In the evening, we will gather for a welcome dinner – the perfect first taste of Pakistani cuisine and hospitality.
- This is also an opportunity for a short tour briefing, where your local guide will walk you through the plan for the days ahead.

Day 2 – Islamabad - Chilas (overnight in Chilas)

- After breakfast we begin our journey north toward Gilgit-Baltistan, travelling through ever-changing scenery and some of Pakistan’s most dramatic landscapes.
- The full distance between Islamabad and Skardu is around 600 km, following river valleys and winding mountain roads with spectacular views throughout.
- Reaching Skardu in a single day is not feasible, so we break the journey in the town of Chilas for a comfortable overnight stop.
- Enjoy the mountain air, rest after the day’s drive, and prepare for the stunning high-altitude regions ahead.

Day 3 – Chilas - Skardu (Shangrila & Kachura Lakes)

- After breakfast, we drive towards the famous Shangrila Lake and Upper Kachura Lake, two of the most picturesque spots in Baltistan.
- Enjoy time at both the Lower and Upper Kachura Lakes, known for their crystal-clear waters, dramatic mountain scenery and peaceful atmosphere.
- Boating, sightseeing and photography opportunities throughout, with plenty of time to soak in the surroundings.
- Meet and interact with local residents, gaining insight into daily life in this remote mountain region.
- In the afternoon, continue onwards to Skardu for your overnight stay.

Day 4 - Skardu - Shigar Valley - Skardu

- After breakfast, depart for the beautiful Shigar Valley, one of Baltistan’s most historic and scenic regions.
- Stop at the remarkable cold desert, where you’ll have the option to enjoy bike riding or paragliding among wind-swept dunes and dramatic mountain views.
- Continue to the historic village of Shigar and visit the renowned Shigar Fort (Fong Khar), a 17th-century palace of the Amacha Dynasty, now carefully restored.
- Enjoy relaxed time on the peaceful lawns of the fort, surrounded by cherry orchards, flowing streams and traditional village scenery.
- Visit the ancient Amburiq Mosque, one of the oldest in Baltistan, dating back to the 14th century and known for its unique architectural heritage.
- Return to Skardu for your overnight stay.

Day 5 - Khaplu, Baltistan

- After breakfast, drive towards the stunning Manthoka Waterfall, one of the most picturesque spots in Baltistan with its cascading waters and lush surroundings.
- Continue the journey to Khaplu, once the second-largest kingdom in old Baltistan under the historic Yabgo Dynasty.
- Explore the old town of Khaplu, wandering through its traditional lanes and experiencing local Balti culture.
- Visit the majestic Khaplu Fort, a beautifully restored 19th-century palace showcasing regional history and architecture.
- Visit the 600-year-old Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest and most architecturally unique mosques in the region.
- Overnight stay in Khaplu.

Day 6 - Skardu Region

- Begin the day with breakfast at the hotel before departing for the scenic Organic Village, reached by a gentle 45-minute alpine trek where you’ll witness traditional farming and authentic mountain life.
- Meet local villagers, enjoy the serene surroundings and take in panoramic views of terraced fields and rugged peaks.
- Continue onwards to the magnificent Satpara Lake, famed for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic mountain backdrop.
- Spend time exploring the lakeside, capturing photos and enjoying the peaceful high-altitude atmosphere.
- Return to Skardu in the afternoon for a visit to the vibrant local market, browsing traditional handicrafts, meeting friendly Balti residents and sampling local snacks.
- Head back to your hotel for a relaxed evening. Overnight in Skardu.

Day 7 - Hunza Valley

- Drive from Skardu towards the legendary Hunza Valley, with a stop at the famous Rakaposhi viewpoint for stunning mountain scenery.
- Arrive in Hunza and visit the historic Altit Fort, one of the oldest surviving forts in the region.
- Explore Altit Village and its Royal Garden, once home to the hereditary rulers of Hunza.
- Wander through the bustling Karimabad market, meet friendly locals and browse traditional handicrafts.
- Check in and enjoy an overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 8 - Karimabad & Attabad Lake

- Begin the morning with a visit to Baltit Fort in Karimabad, a centuries-old stronghold and cultural icon of Hunza.
- Enjoy an informative presentation inside the fort before wandering through the charming village lanes below.
- Meet friendly locals, browse artisan workshops and enjoy a traditional Hunza lunch rich with regional flavours.
- Continue to the spectacular Attabad Lake, famous for its vivid turquoise waters and dramatic Karakoram backdrop.
- Spend the afternoon exploring the lake’s viewpoints, relaxing by the water and capturing unforgettable photographs.
- Overnight stay at Attabad.

Day 9 - Gulmit / Khunjerab Pass

- After breakfast, depart for Khunjerab National Park, a spectacular high-altitude region on the Pakistan–China border.
- Spend time at the Khunjerab Pass, taking in dramatic alpine landscapes and panoramic mountain views.
- Return towards Upper Hunza and visit the charming villages of Gulmit and Passu, known for their warm Wakhi culture.
- Stop at a women-run carpet workshop to learn about traditional weaving and daily village life.
- In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic hike up to Ondra Fort (“Polygah”), offering unforgettable valley views, especially at sunset.
- Overnight stay in Gulmit.

Day 10 - Naran (or Besham, depending on road conditions)

- Begin the journey back towards Naran, travelling through dramatic mountain landscapes.
- Stop at Babusar Top for breathtaking high-altitude views of the surrounding peaks.
- Continue to the pristine Lulusar Lake for photography and a short lakeside break.
- Arrive in Naran and check into your hotel for the night.
- Note: If the Naran road is closed, travel via the Karakoram Highway and stay overnight in Besham instead.

Day 11 - Islamabad

- Begin the day with breakfast before departing the mountains for your return journey to Islamabad.
- Enjoy scenic stopovers along the way for photography and final glimpses of northern Pakistan’s dramatic landscapes.
- Arrive in Islamabad in the afternoon and check into your hotel for a comfortable final night.
- Spend the evening at leisure, reflecting on your journey through Pakistan’s high-altitude wonders.

Day 12 - Islamabad

- Enjoy a final breakfast at the hotel before preparing for departure.
- Transfer to Islamabad International Airport according to your flight schedule.
- Farewell from Pakistan after an unforgettable journey through mountains, valleys and historic regions.

All bookings are handled securely and personally. Once your tour is confirmed by email, payment can be made safely by debit or credit card, bank transfer, Google Pay, or Apple Pay.
We never store or process card details directly on our website - all payments are completed safely through trusted providers, and official invoices are issued for every booking.
Your deposit and balance payments are fully traceable, and we’re always available to answer any questions before you make a payment.

Is Pakistan suitable for vegetarians?
Vegetarian meals are available, especially in major towns and areas used to hosting travellers. Just let us know when booking and we’ll make sure your dietary needs are taken into account throughout the trip.
What currency should I bring?
Pakistan uses the Pakistani Rupee (PKR). The easiest option is to bring USD, which can be exchanged almost everywhere at good rates.
What should I wear while travelling in Pakistan?
Pakistan is generally a conservative country. We advise dressing modestly - long trousers and covered shoulders are best, especially in rural regions and religious sites.
Do I need a visa for Pakistan?
Yes. Pakistan requires an e-visa for most nationalities. Beyond the Borders will provide full visa assistance, including the documents and simple instructions needed to complete the online e-visa application.
What is the accommodation like?

Is Pakistan safe to travel?

Is the tour physically demanding?
Some days include light trekking, uneven terrain, and high altitudes. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended. If you have concerns, let us know and we can advise or tailor adjustments.
Is photography allowed everywhere?
Photography is welcome in most tourist sites and scenic locations. However, avoid photographing military areas, checkpoints, and people without permission. Your guide will let you know when to keep the camera down.
