Pyongyang International Marathon 2026 Confirmed
The Pyongyang Marathon has just been officially confirmed for April 2026 through another tour operator, who has been appointed as the exclusive partner. Naturally, this has created a lot of excitement among travellers who have been waiting for any sign of movement from the DPRK after several years of border closure.
We want to give some clarity on what this announcement actually means – and what it doesn’t.

This Is Not a Reopening of Tourism
While the marathon is going ahead, it is not part of a general tourism reopening.
Next year’s race is being organised as a special delegation, completely separate from normal tourist travel. For now, the DPRK remains closed to the broader travel industry, and standard tours are still not permitted.
Why We Aren’t Accepting Bookings
Because the organising company has exclusive rights to operate next year’s marathon delegation, we are not able to take bookings or arrange participation for our travellers.
Additionally, the limited nature of the delegation means prices are significantly higher than those of previous years, making the experience far less accessible than the traditional marathon format.
We always aim to provide good-value, meaningful, and well-run travel opportunities, and we’re eagerly awaiting a wider reopening so we can offer a full range of tours.
Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to Future Travel
Even though we won’t be operating tours for the 2026 Pyongyang Marathon, we are committed to offering high-quality experiences in the DPRK as soon as borders fully reopen.
We are continuing to monitor developments closely, and once there is official confirmation regarding normal tourism, we will be ready to provide:
Well-priced, transparent itineraries
Small group and private travel options
In-depth cultural experiences
Access to major events, including future editions of the Pyongyang Marathon – when available through standard tourism channels
Stay Updated
We know many of you are eager to return to the DPRK or visit for the first time, and we’re just as excited for that day. As soon as credible updates emerge regarding tourism reopening, we will share them immediately.
In the meantime, thank you for your continued interest and support.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you on future tours that offer real value, authentic access, and the experience you deserve.
